Before & After Care
Before Your Appointment
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free eyes (no mascara, eyeliner, or strip lash glue).
- Avoid oil-based products around your eyes for 24 hours before your appointment.
- Remove contact lenses if your eyes are sensitive.
- Avoid caffeine right before your appointment so you can relax and lie still.
- Come a little early to use the restroom and complete any forms.
After Your Appointment
- Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours (no steam, sweating, or swimming).
- Avoid rubbing or pulling on your lashes.
- Sleep on your back or side when you can to avoid smashing lashes.
- Avoid oil-based cleansers and makeup removers on or near your lashes.
- Brush your lashes gently with a clean lash brush daily.
- Do not use mascara on volume or mega volume sets; if needed, only use a lash-safe mascara on classic sets.
Maintenance & Refills
- Book your refills every 1–2 weeks to keep your set looking full.
- Arrive at refill appointments with clean lashes.
- Let your lash artist know if you notice any irritation, allergy, or changes in your routine (new skincare, medications, etc.).
Using a nourishing aftercare serum is an important part of keeping your natural lashes healthy and strong, especially after extensions or a lash lift. A good serum helps support lash growth and keeps them from becoming dry or brittle. Avoid sleeping directly on your lashes when you can, and use a soft sleep mask that doesn’t press on your eyes if you like to wear one. Protecting your lashes at night helps your extensions and lifts last longer and keeps them looking their best.

How long do lash extensions last?
With proper care, your lash extensions can last through your natural lash cycle. Most clients come in every 1–2 weeks for refills to keep them looking full and fresh.
Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When applied correctly and cared for properly, lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes. At GiGi Zen Spa, we choose lengths and weights that are safe for your natural lashes and focus on healthy lash growth.
Can I get my lashes wet?
After the first 24 hours, you can get your lashes wet. Just avoid hot steam and very hot showers directly on your lashes, and gently pat them dry instead of rubbing.
Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?
Yes, but avoid waterproof eyeliner or mascara and oil-based products around the eyes. If you wear mascara, only use a lash-safe formula on classic sets and apply lightly to the tips.
What should I do before my lash appointment?
